The saying states, “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.” I wager if people as individuals followed this precept closely the world would be an eerily silent place. The honest truth is life is anything but “nice.” Life is very seldom quaint, convenient, gentle, or even pleasant. Unfortunately, the reality is beautiful moments are just that – momentary. Our existence is fleeting, and those beautiful moments can come and go before we even realize they have happened at all. The saddest slight is that often the most profound moments are squandered on persons who lack the ability or inclination to appreciate the immense value of those moments. In light of our collective resolution to look on the brighter side of life, one must ask: how does an enlightened individual talk about the light without discussing the darkness?
